MGG Geopolitics is an independent platform for geopolitics, defence and great power competition.
The name is a deliberate reference to the original “Great Game”, the 19th-century contest for influence in Central Asia. This site takes that idea and applies it to the present: a world in which major powers are once again competing for position strategic advantage in an increasingly multipolar system.
It began as a YouTube channel focused on long-form video analysis (@themoderngreatgame). This website exists as its companion and expansion, a place for deeper written analysis and news that doesn’t always fit into video format.
The focus remains consistent: understanding how countries are adapting to a more fragmented world, and what that means for the risk of future conflict. Most coverage centres on the Indo-Pacific and its growing links to Europe and the Arctic.
